Founding Board 2014-2016

The Guyana Sport Shooting Foundation Inc. is a body corporate duly incorporated under the Companies Act 1991, Laws of Guyana, and hereinafter referred to as ‘the Guyana Sport Shooting Foundation’ or ‘GSSF’.

The Guyana Sport Shooting Foundation held its Election of the Board of Executives on Wednesday 23rd July, 2014 at the Georgetown Club and the following persons were elected to be the first-serving executive for the period 2014-2015:

Vidushi Persaud    
Ms. Vidushi Persaud is an Attorney-at-Law in private practice. Since she was called to the Guyana Bar in 2001, she joined her Family’s Law Firm of Persaud & Associates, Georgetown. She currently serves as a Director of the Guyana Legal Aid Clinic, Member of the Guyana Bar Association, Vice-Chair of the National Commission on Disability, Vice-Chair of the National Sports Commission, Member of the Allied Health Professions Council, Council Member of the Guyana Olympic Association, Member of Castellani’s House Management Committee, Member of the Guyana NRA, Member of the United States Practical Shooting Association and the Steel Challenge Shooting Association. Ms. Persaud is also the Secretary of the Guyana Squash Association and is a certified Level 1 Coach and CASA Referee. She now adds another portfolio as elected President of the Guyana Sport Shooting Foundation. She is motivated by the confidence reposed in her and will strive to take sport shooting in Guyana to a whole new level and set the path for years to come to promote the goals and objectives of the GSSF.  
     
Michael Blake    
Michael Blake is Vice President of the GSSF and current member of the United States Practical Shooting Association and the Steel Challenge Shooting Association. Prior to joining GSSF he was a member of Guyana National Rifle Association Hand-Gun Division. After completing the NRA’s general accuracy schedule he moved on to train and compete in their practical pistol competitions whilst simultaneously participating in .22 Precision and Air Pistol activities. In 2010 he became trained and certified as a Level II IROA Range Officer. He was forced to spend some time away from the shooting arena due to personal commitments.  Michael Blake is now back and committed to direct his energies and resources towards the development of Sport Shooting in Guyana and the Region. He particularly enjoys participating in Practical Shooting, Air Pistol and Archery.   
     
Steve Ninvalle    
Mr. Ninvalle is the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport. He also served in the capacity of Parliamentary Secretary in the same ministry and was a Member of Parliament during the ninth Parliament. Mr. Ninvalle is currently a Commissioner of the National Sports Commission, the president of the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association and a vice president of Alpha United Football Club, one of the leading football clubs in the Caribbean. Mr. Ninvalle is a current member of the United States Practical Shooting Association and the Steel Challenge Shooting Association. He is dedicated towards promoting sport shooting in Guyana as the Secretary of the GSSF.  
     
Rohandev Persaud    
Mr. Persaud’s alma mater is Queen’s College, after which he went on to secure a Degree in Accounting at the University of Guyana. He is currently a Graduate Gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America. In 1996, he became a Director of King’s Jewellery World, which position he holds to date. His hobbies include travelling around the world, spending time with his wife and 3 children, sport shooting and enjoying the outdoors, playing and watching sports and Playing Poker with close friends. He has brought his accounting expertise to the GSSF and was elected as Treasurer of the Foundation. He is a current member of the United States Practical Shooting Association and the Steel Challenge Shooting Association.  
     
Ryan McKinnon    
Mr. McKinnon is an avid outdoorsman and patriot who has a passion for promoting Guyana. He proudly speaks of the vast untouched biodiversity that the country possesses which stems from his experiences travelling to the depths of every administrative region. Growing up in central Georgetown in a single parent home he developed a respect for team work and many strong principles that today aid him in successfully managing his life and business career.
Mr. Ryan McKinnon is an active competitive shooter since 2006 (via Guyana N.R.A.) and has amassed a wealth of experience and prize winnings in the field of sport shooting both locally and internationally to date.  He has won several local handgun shooting competitions and is currently the defending champion for the all the major sponsored local handgun tournaments, inclusive of those involving law enforcement agencies. He is especially proud to expand on the comradery that sport shooting typically generates amongst competitors who usually hails from all walks of life and all regions of the world.  As such Mr. McKinnon strives to combine his logic, efficiency, tact and proficiency gained from his travels and experiences in order to continue promoting Guyana and regulated shooting sports.
He is certified by the IROA as a Level II Chief Range Officer, member and former hand-gun captain of the Guyana NRA, member of the United States Practical Shooting Association and the Steel Challenge Shooting Association
 
     
Bhiro Harry    
Dr. Bhiro Harry is the 6th of 10 children who started his early education at the West Demerara Government Secondary School then Indian's Education Trust where he completed his A levels. After completing a teaching stint at the Anna Regina Multi-lateral School, he commenced studies at the University of Havana from 1977 -1983 where he earned a MD Degree. He returned to Guyana and worked at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. In 1985 he returned to the University of Havana from 1985-1988 to specialise in Psychiatry. Thereafter he returned to Guyana and has been working at the Georgetown Public Hospital since and is a lecturer at the Medical School. He is happily married since 1986 to Georgia, an Instructor of Classical ballet and is a proud father of two children. “Dr. Bhiro” as he is well-known in Guyana has always been a keen athlete, having played almost all outdoor games in Guyana and is known for running the 400, 800 and 1500 metres races. He is a member of the Medical Arts Corporation, the Guyana Public Hospital Corporation, the Parole Board, the Firearms and Licencing Approval Board, the Guyana Medical Council and more recently, member of the United States Practical Shooting Association and the Steel Challenge Shooting Association.  
     
Pravesh Harry    
Dr. Pravesh Harry BDS is a Dental Surgeon by profession. He is employed at Dr. Sengupta & Associates’ private Dental office in Queenstown. Dr. Harry is meticulous and passionate about his work. He has a strong sense of civic pride as demonstrated by voluntary community service and activities he chooses to provide his fellow Guyanese in Dental Outreach programs. As a firearms enthusiast for many years he brings the same professionalism and enthusiasm to the Guyana Sport Shooting Foundation where he is a director and founding member. Dr. Harry is a member of the United States Practical Shooting Association and the Steel Challenge Shooting Association.  
     
Roul Bhudu    
Captain Roul Bhudu is a commercial pilot who has been flying in Guyana commercially since 2008.  He initially commenced training at Air Services flight school in 2004 and went on to complete his professional training in Canada. Upon returning to Guyana he has worked with Roraima Airways, Air Services Ltd. and Wings Aviation. He has command experience on the Cessna's 172, 206, 208 and Britten Norman Islander. His interest in sport shooting led Capt. Bhudu to become involved in the formation and development of the Guyana Sport Shooting Foundation which fuels a passion for all forms of sport shooting. He is a current member of the United States Practical Shooting Association and the Steel Challenge Shooting Association.
